December 26, 2016

It's been a little over 2 weeks since my last blog.   It's been very busy and things have happened.  My sweet mamma, 84, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2016.  She lived a long life, but it was a difficult long life.   She struggled with drug addiction, and had a very difficult marriage for 57 years.   But in spite of it all, she was loved by all her knew her, or for that matter, if you just met her, you fell in love with her.   She was loving and kind, and had a quick wit like no other.  She had a wonderful sense of humor, which I'd like to think I got from her!!   I am happy she passed away peacefully, and that she is reunited with her parents and siblings, and her baby boy, Matthew Mark, who died a day after he was born.  I was 3 years old at the time.
Here are some highlights of the past few weeks:

Sister Treasure hosted a cookie exchange for the Senior Sisters....
Here we all are surrounding the goodies....
 Sister Peless,,.Michigan..Sister Boyer,,,Idaho...Sister Treasure....Washington....Sister Christensen.....South Jordan, Utah.....Sister Metallo.....Springville, Utah....Sister Tefteller....Highland, Utah....Sister Ross....Arizona....Sister Carpenter....Arizona
Elder Tefteller and I hosted a Christmas FHE at our home.  We served dinner, and had a white elephant exchange afterwards....
Sister Christensen was delighted with her "Elephant"..
Sister Ross cheated.....she got the gift they gave.....
Elder Ross not so excited with his reindeer slippers....
Elder Dance thought he got some powder but it turned out to be a necklace....
Christmas ornaments for Elder Metallo with Sister Johnson looking on....
Elder Peless, aka, Scrooge, according to him, but not really with his stuffed animal....
Everyone kept taking Sister Treasures gifts from her...
Elder Tefteller got a Christmas tie that someone stole from him....but I got it back for him....
Sister Fuller looking at a game Elder Fuller got....
Sister Fuller got a Bacon Calendar.    She was so excited....noone dared take it from her!!!
I wonder what Sister Johnson got, the Dances looking on....
I was rather amused with the way they were both sitting...with their arms folded!!!  Elder Boyer and Elder Treasure....
As you can see, it's a tight squeeze but we have so much fun...when President Cato and his wife came to talk to us about their conversion, we had 28 people packed in our apartment.
Christmas from the Bountiful Cengiz.....I love it......Belle is the best!!!
Elder Tefteller taking dinner into the VC to 2 of our ward Sister Missionaries.
Coming out with an empty tray!
I bought some material for a quilt, and Paula Kay said she would make us a quilt.   I told her I didn't need it until next year when we went home.....boy did she surprise us when we got this in the mail.....she even made pillow cases to match.   She is amazing.....The blue gingham is on the back of the quilt.
She even made us one of her Christmas Quilts......she's the best!!!
Always a fun time when we get together and play games.....the Ross's....
this is what we woke up to one morning...pure ice on the windows of our car..
These fun beautiful sisters called me and asked if they could come help make cookies.  They were going caroling and needed some cookies to take.    I actually made the cookies before they got to our apartment, just because I can only bake one tray at a time....
but they ended up decorating them and packaging them....
 they did an awesome job!!!!!
.....it's not Christmas without snowball cookies.....
...or pumpkin bread.......

We hope that your new year will be wonderful, filled with the love of our Heavenly Father and Savior.....Let's all be better this year and "Light the World!!!"  We love you all so much and recognize how important each of you are to us!!!
Until next time.....read your scriptures, and be kind!!
Much Love,  Elder and Sister Tefteller

Christmas Baking! December 11, 2016

If I were to get paid a nickel for every time someone told me I would be so bored on my mission,   we would be rich.    They  said that in reference to Glenn being called to be an AMA.    Since last Tuesday, which is 5 days, I have gone through 25 pounds of f  lour...15+ pounds of sugar...8+ pounds of butter....6-7 dozen eggs.  I made cookies for Sister Boyer.....I made a white cake with chocolate frosting...2 pumpkin cakes with carmel sauce.....pumpkin bread.....a total of 50 dozen cookies.   Sister Treasure invited all the Senior Sisters over fora cookie exchange.  I made cookies for our Ward Christmas Party.   200 chocolate and chocolate chip, and 200+ sugar cookies with icing.  Makes me tired typing this.  I think I have done more baking in less than I week than I ever did when I had my bakery back home.  That doesn't count all the meals I cooked for us and for some of our friends here.    As I always tell Glenn, I'm not bragging, I'm just stating a fact!      Yes, I do keep busy, and I'm never bored.   It keeps me busy, and takes my mind off of being homesick, especially at this time of year.  I am so grateful that the Lord continues to bless us with good health so we can serve...that is definitely something I don't take for granted!
We have taught the 15-17 year old youth in SS since we got here 9 months ago.    Today was our last day teaching.    They called someone to be a permanent teacher.   We will miss teaching,  and we are grateful for that time with these youth.  Our class grew from 2-3 per week, to 12 today.  I have also been playing the piano in RS since we got here.  Today, when I walked into RS, a sister was playing the piano......so I guess I'm done playing.    (Our ward had 1/2 of another ward merge with them)  So we are seeing lots of talent, and callings are being filled.  I am still filling in as Secretary to the RS President.   I'm sure they will call someone soon for that as well.    I love the flexibility of Glenn's calling.   We are able to help in various ways.  Last week we were set apart as Ordinance Workers at the Kansas City Temple.   We started last week and will be working every Thursday morning until we  leave next year.  It's great to be serving in the Temple again!   What a blessing.

Until next time, keep reading your scriptures and be happy!!

December 1 to December 4, 2016

The Best Christmas Ever!!!  Rebecca came for a visit.   She got here at midnight on the 1st of December and she flew home, today, the 4th of December.  I had called her a few months ago and said, "I need me some Rebecca time!!"   She took time out of her busy, hectic schedule to come see us!     I was one happy momma!!
It was well past 1 am, but that didn't keep us from having our picture taken!   Oh happy day!

"Those look like real chickens!"   Rebecca.  "Well they sure do!"  Elder T.
Independence VC.    Mother/daughter bonding!  This is the best Christmas Present....being with Rebecca!

We were so sad to see Rebecca go home.   But we were also very grateful for the time we got to spend with her.

When your children are younger, you get to be with them every day, seven days a week!  The joy of watching them grow up and develop their individual personalities is the greatest thing ever....then every once in awhile, you ask, "Will I ever get some alone time just for me?"  All of a sudden they grow up and leave home, and being with them every day is a thing of the past.   They start their own families and have their own lives,  and you see them less often.   But you are so grateful for the times you get to spend with them!   Actually, you cherish the times you get to spend with them!!

In an instant, they are gone!  And you say:

PLEASE...ONE MORE DAY!!!!  I love you Rebecca!!
