My helper in the Kitchen. Elder Tefteller shaving the Hershey Bar for my cookies!!
We went to the Temple with the Seamans. He was the Housing Director when we came to Independence. He had our apartment all furnished before we got here. Sister Seaman is the Mission Secretary. They are leaving on Wednesday, April 27th.
President Vest is big on missionaries getting their exercise everyday. Something we have been doing!!!
Elder Tefteller on an early morning ride! Yes, my friends....he IS wearing a helmet!!!
Last week, our Bishop gave us a list of names of people he wanted us to make contact with. We have been out every day since. I am finally experiencing what it feels like to be a missionary. It's also an eye opener to see how people live, and learn more about them and their situations. It's sad to meet people who haven't had any contact from the Church, and not because they didn't want contact. We met a girl who is 30 years old and is dying of terminal cancer. She is in a nursing home on hospice. She is the sweetest, most humble person we have met. She has accepted her condition, and is willing to accept the Lord's will in her life. I just pray that she doesn't have to suffer long. She has a roommate who was happy to meet us and when she found out we were from the same Church her roommate was from she got excited. She said she has been looking for a Church for the past 40+ years. We invited her to go to Church with us. She gladly accepted. Yesterday, we went and picked her up and took her to Church with us. She is in a wheel chair. We were surprised that she stayed for the whole block. But she loved it. The day we met her I was wearing my favorite dress(jumper)with short sleeve shirt. She couldn't quit saying how beautiful my dress was. So when we went to pick her up for Church, I took along my jumper and shirt and gave it to her to wear. (I actually gave it to her to keep)!!! She was so thrilled!! The Sister Missionaries are going to visit with her this coming Thursday. It will be their 3rd meeting with her. Yesterday, Sunday, we took dinner to a sister who had just had a baby. She wasn't home....but her husband was. We found out he wasn't a member. But he was one of the nicest people we've met He told us because of his work schedule, he wasn't able to go to Church, but that would be changing in about a month, and then he would start going. He expressed his desire to get baptized. It will be interesting to see what happens Today, we took dinner to a Sister from Argentina. She has a husband and 3 children....but they are all less active They were very active in Church until she got a job that required her to work Sundays. Because she was the strong one in the family, the rest of them quit going. She has cancer for the 3rd time. She has had breast cancer..ovarian cancer....and now she has breast cancer again. Glenn gave her a blessing. Her mother was visiting her. We see her mother at Church every Sunday. A cute little story. Her mother has a Cocker Spaniel When Glenn was giving the daughter a blessing, the dog laid on the floor with it's legs stretched forward with his hit down on his legs. When Glenn was done, her mother explained that every time she prays, her dog always gets in that position. This sweet sister had a biopsy last week, and she will find out this week what the results are. She has decided to have a 2nd Mastectomy because she doesn't want to go through breast cancer again She is such a sweet humble person. Just like her mother.
We went to visit a man who was the only member. He was in the bedroom asleep.. As we were leaving, his wife came home, and proceeded to tell us that he had been in a motorcycle accident 4 years earlier and suffered from traumatic brain injuries. She said he hasn't been the same since. She and his son have tried to take him to Church, but she said he suffers with depression. She invited us back. So we are looking forward to going back and meeting him. We also visited some homes that were so filthy. It's so hard to believe that people live like that. I know that if these people believed that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them....it might change their situations. We have also been to see a sister 3 times. We know she is home because she is disabled and she looked out the blinds, and then wouldn't answer the door!! I told Elder Tefteller that next time we went I was going to take cookies. So we went back yesterday and I was holding a bag of cookies. Same thing, she wouldn't answer the door. There are alot of Polynesians in this area. They are the most humble and genuinely nice people we've encountered.
It's a wonderful feeling for me to bear my testimony to these people, and to let them know of their Heavenly Father's love for them. I have the best companion!! He always knows the right things to say! I'm a little more shy, in that I want to get to know them, before I start encouraging them to go back to Church. But my Bold Missionary always invites them to come back right off the bat!!! One day I'll be just like him!! I love this Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the Lord's Church has been restored in these Latter days and I am so thrilled to be a part of it I am so grateful to be here with my sweetheart serving together. I've decided that side from serving others, especially the less active, I am going to be doing a lot of cooking and baking. I am glad that is something I love to do. I really never thought before I came out here that that is something I would be doing a lot of! I told Glenn I think our Mission budget is going up:):) Until next time...read your scriptures!!!!

Adam Ondi-Ahman - Farr West, Missouri - Haun's Mill
Yesterday, some of us Senior Missionaries took a trip north to see some Church History Sights. Glenn and I had never been before. In fact, we have not been to any of the Mid-west Church History Sights. We didn't know what to expect or what we would find let alone experience. It was far more wonderful than we ever imagined.. Today is Sunday, and I'm still thinking about what we saw and learned. It solidified more than ever my testimony of this Gospel. It strengthened my testimony of the Prophet Smith. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true Church on the earth today! That Christ is at it's head! We are led by a living Prophet, even Thomas S Monson! I had very strong feelings of sadness at Farr West and Haun's Mill! It is really hard to express in words to convey to others how I feel. It is something each individual would have to experience for themselves But I know what I felt.....I know Glenn and I are here for more than one reason. I am grateful to be here, and I look forward to the next year and a half serving in the Missouri Independence Mission. Please enjoy the pictures below!

Mission Life in Independence!
We have been here just 2 weeks. We are loving it here and are trying to get familiar with the surrounding areas. We have been able to go to the Temple twice. It is a beautiful temple....but small. Only one endowment room. Today we went to the ward our Mission President assigned us to. We were touched by how kind everyone was to us. Very friendly ward, and we are so excited to get involved with activation and missionary work. We arrived to Church and noone was playing the organ(my biggest fear)! The Counselor in the Bishopric came down and asked me to play the organ or piano. Keep in mind I haven't played the organ in 27 years. I'll tell you, I have never prayed so hard as I did on my way up to the organ. I begged the Lord to help me. He really did!! I wasn't nervous at all and I did quite well. No mistakes. HA! Not on your life. But Glenn said he was actually surprised how well I did. Then when I got to RS they didn't have a pianist so I played for RS. During Sunday School, the counselor in the Bishopric came and asked me if I would play in Primary. So I did. Now I'm not a pianist by any means. I'm the one who usually has to have at least a weeks notice to practice. But I'm hear to tell you that if we are willing to serve in any capacity, the Lord will bless you to do it!! I was told that I would be the permanent piano player in RS.
Last week we went to a play/musical put on by the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was interesting. This Church broke off from the Community of Christ Church because of all the things they were changing! They were celebrating the dedication of the Kirkland, Ohio Temple. Interesting!! When people ask us who we are with, we say we are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are Mormons from Utah. Cause they get us mixed up with all the branches of the Community of Christ Church that go by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We found out today that the Community of Christ Church do not like Mormons.
I am so grateful to be here serving a mission with Glenn. I'll be glad when we get busy! We are planning a trip to Nauvoo sometime in May. Glenn want's to go visit the full-time Dr. who is serving the 200+ senior missionaries and about 40 young sister missionaries. He is really busy. I found out that he is the Dr. who delivered Rebecca. Small World!
I am out here because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's only true Church on the earth. I have a testimony that Joseph Smith was foreordained in the pre-existence to be the Prophet of the Restoration. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I love my Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for His tender mercies. He has blessed me more than I feel like I deserve. I love my Savior and I am so grateful for his Atoning Sacrifice for me. I know that if I was the only living human being on the earth He would still do what he did just for me!!! This is why I am serving a mission. I hope and pray that Glenn and I can serve more missions in the future if it is Heavenly Father's will for us.

More of Independence
We arrived back in Independence on March 25, 2016. Our mission technically began on March 14 when we entered the MTC. But we are back now and are excited to get settled in and begin our mission. Glenn is so nervous about the record keeping and computer part of his Call. But everyday gets better for him. I helped him do his monthly report today, and so I think that helped. We spent the first week setting up house. I told Glenn that it feels like we're newly weds all over again...because we are shopping like we are setting up house for the first time. Elder Seamon is the housing director for our mission. He is responsible for furnishing our apartment right from filling all the rooms with furniture....filling the kitchen with all the luxuries of home...to giving us a brand new bike rack for our car. He is amazing. He and his wife are going home in 3 weeks. We bought Glenn a used bike, and he finally agreed to buy a helmet. So we have been riding our bikes quite a bit! We found a bike path today, but it wasn't very long, so we are going to have to look for others. We feel safer riding on the trails opposed to riding on the streets. We stay on the sidewalks, but it's still safer on bike trails. We went to the Temple for the first time since we left DC. It was great....we went with Elder and Sister Seamon, and Sister Christensen, who is the Mission Nurse. We went to Sister Christensen's ward the first Sunday we were here as President Vest assigns us to a Ward. We met with President Vest the first Monday we were here. He assigned us to the Independence 3rd Ward. Then Tuesday he and his wife took us out to dinner at Jack Stacks Barbecue. It was quite good, although I didn't like their sauces. So I just dipped my meat in the beans. They were amazing! President Vest and Sister Vest are great people. He and Glenn bonded, because President Vest bought a ranch not far from where Glenn grew up. And they both take Flecanide, a heart medicine for AFib. Funny!
I fed the sister missionaries last Saturday in between conference sessions. Then we fed the Elder's on Sunday in between the Conference Sessions. Then Sunday night we invited Sister Christensen...the Seamons and the Ross'who are going to replace the Seamons. I enjoy doing that and hope I can do it on a regualar basis.
I loved Conference. It was amazing and all the talks were directed to me. They were so inspiring and I needed them at this time as we begin our mission here. We have been blessed with so many Tender Mercies the past 7 months. And they continue as we begin our service in the Independence, Missouri Mission!!!!!! Those of you who read this who are retired and are able, I strongly encourage each of you to serve a mission. It will change your life in ways you never imagined. We have seen so many blessings come into our lives and the lives of our children and their families. Please, prayerfully consider serving!
