November 15, 2016

It's been awhile since I last posted.  Time just seems to fly by so fast!!!

We hosted at the Liberty Jail, it will be 2 weeks ago Sunday.     We had the privilege of meeting Bishop Causse and his lovely wife.   It was a pleasant surprise, and we had a pleasant time visiting with them.

Something we have been doing lately is helping the Housing Director, Elder Ross and Sister Ross with moving missionaries from apartments and sometimes to a different apartment.   This picture is a group of young Elders and Sisters who helped on a particular move.  They are such a great help.   We old folks can't do what we were able to do when we were younger.   My official job has been "The " Queen of Bathrooms.  I'll just say that it takes me the whole time they are moving things out and cleaning to finish cleaning the bathroom.  I also got to help "Set up" an apartment for a Senior couple who will arrive on Friday.  Now that is fun!! I arranged all the furniture and helped put supplies away.  I could do that for a living!!!:):)
Elder Tefteller is doing his thing......yesterday he went to the VC and helped pull up all the flowers.  Today he is planting bulbs.   That is something he really enjoys doing.  I am getting ready to bake some cookies.
We found out that they are going to change the boundaries for 3 wards, and most likely make 2 wards.   This Sunday we have a special meeting to find out what the changes are.  Right now, we teach the youth 15-18 in SS.   I play the piano in RS.  I also play the organ in Sacrament Meeting from time to time, or lead the music in Sacrament Meeting.   I was just asked to be a temporary Secretary for the RS.   The Secretary just had a baby yesterday, and she will be out for some time.  I suspect that when the ward gets more leadership, we  may not be doing any of those callings anymore.
Glenn got permission from Elder Switzer to be set apart ordinance workers at the Kansas City, Missouri Temple.   We just have to find out how we do that, and then pick a day that is most needed.   We are quite excited about serving again in the Temple.
With the holidays fast approaching, I have become a little melancholy. Last year in DC, we knew that Charles and Rachel and the kids were coming for Christmas, and David and Rachel would be coming after they went home.     Mark and Flo and the kids are coming for Christmas this year, so that will help!  Christmas is always more fun when the kids and grandkids are around.
The second Monday of every month, we host FHE, and serve dinner.   We really enjoy doing that!   We had about 21 here last night.  I fixed pepperjack cheese soup and Pasta Fagioli.  I also made some rolls and a salad.  We had chocolate cake for dessert.  Fun times.
We have been talking about the possibility of serving a mission locally when we get home.   That way we can live in our home, be near family, yet also be serving a mission.    We talked about Glenn being the AMA for our area in Utah.   Maybe even Idaho.    Or being guides at the Conference Center or Temple Square.   But for now it's just talk.   We will see what happens when we get home!
Our testimonies have definitely been strengthened since serving here in the Missouri Independence Mission.  For my self personally, I have learned so much about what took place here in Church History.  I marvel at the early Saints and how they stayed true and faithful to the gospel inspite of severe persecution!   It helps me to want to become firm and solid in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It also helps me realize, which I have already experienced, the blessings that are ours if we will hold fast to the Iron Rod, and stay focused on the Gospel.
I love my Savior with all my heart.   I have come to understand more, which will never be enough,  His atoning sacrifice for each of us.   There is no other way possible to return to our Heavenly Father and  Savior except through the atonement.
We love y'all!  Until next time...read your scriptures and be happy!!!

  1. Hi Teftellers This is LaRae Hales. Just wanted you to know Keith passed away Sunday November 20, 2016 4:45 a.m. You were good to him for many years. Thank you. This is a bitter sweet pill to take. I know he is happy to be free of this disease.
