Patience.....

August 31, 2016

.....these past few weeks have been difficult because I've been having Sciatica pain.  I've tried to stay off my leg as much as I can, so we haven't been able to go out and visit people.  I have still been able to cook and bake.   The pain seems to be getting better!!  I rode my bike today for the first time in 2 weeks.  It felt good!  The Dr. gave me prednisone to take for a week, and that has seemed to help take the edge off!!   Taking it easy has given me the chance to study Church History...which I love!   We have also been studying about the Atonement.  How I love my Savior!!!
This past Monday, we had our Senior dinner with President and Sister Vest.  We get to see some of the seniors we don't ever get to see because they are serving in far away areas!!!  We always have a group picture.  We are almost at our 6 month mark.    It's scarry at how fast time rushes by.  But we are loving it here, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to serve in Independence.  Our schedule allows us to attend the Kansas City Temple on a weekly basis and we are grateful for that opportunity.  Elder Tefteller and I have been asked to speak in Sacrament Meeting on September 11.  The topic:   Jesus Christ - the 2nd coming.    We are still teaching Sunday School - the 15-18 year olds.  This month we are studying covenants.  I am so grateful for the covenants I have made with my Heavenly Father.  Namely, my baptismal and temple covenants.   I was 8 when I was baptized, and although 8 year olds don't understand the great significance of being baptized, I know now, and am eternally grateful for my baptism.   Keeping my baptismal and temple covenants has been a great blessing in my life.  When I was a single mom, I knew that if I kept my temple covenants, Heavenly Father would bless me with a faithful, worthy husband.   And boy, did He bless me!   And since marrying Glenn and being sealed in the Temple, it has helped me want to be the very best I can be, so that we can be together for Eternity, with our children and grandchildren!  I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it has changed and continues to change my life!  I have seen the blessings come by trying to live by it's teachings.  Especially since we have been serving missions, I see the blessings come!   We have also been told by some of our children the blessings they have been receiving in the own family since we have been serving.
Until next time---read your scriptures!!
